The band's director, Diego Bonilla, has Timbiquí ancestry, an afro-Colombian on the Pacific Coast known for its skillful artists. Upon his arrival in Bogotá, he met Larry Ararat, a marimba player and percussionist from the GRAMMY-nominated band Chocquibtown. Collaborating, for them, was so fruitful that a band was born: ALUVIÓN.
The band formed in 2010, which was when there was a stream on Timbiquí water being deposited in Bogotá-- Aluvión is the musical echo of this phenomenon, creating an exceptional mixture of marimba, cununos and guasá with the electronic sounds of the Colombian capital.
